An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for a house is a security solution designed to monitor and protect the home from unauthorized entry or malicious activity. Its primary function is to detect intrusions (like break-ins or tampering) and alert homeowners or security personnel in real-time. These systems typically rely on various sensors and technology to monitor different entry points and areas of the house

What is intrusion detection system?
An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a critical component of a security infrastructure, enabling early detection of potential security incidents and enhancing the overall protection of physical assets.
Key components:
-
Motion Detectors: These sensors track movement within or around the home, particularly in areas like hallways, living rooms, or entryways. When motion is detected, the system can send alerts to the homeowner or trigger alarms.
-
Door and Window Sensors: These sensors are placed on doors and windows and can detect if they are opened, forced, or tampered with. When a door or window is breached, the system triggers an alarm.
-
Security Cameras (CCTV): Surveillance cameras provide a real-time video feed and can be strategically placed inside and outside the home. Modern cameras often come with motion detection and can send notifications when movement is detected.
-
Glass Break Detectors: These sensors are designed to detect the sound or vibration of glass breaking. They are useful for protecting windows, which are common entry points for intruders.
-
Alarm Systems: When an intrusion is detected, the system may trigger a loud siren or alarm to scare off the intruder and alert neighbors. Some systems also automatically contact emergency services or a monitoring center for rapid response.
-
Environmental Sensors: In addition to detecting intruders, some IDS systems include environmental sensors to monitor for hazards like smoke, carbon monoxide, or flooding. This adds an extra layer of protection to the home.
