A yearlong investigation in Brooklyn led to the takedown of the 59 Brims and Bloodhound Brims gangs, resulting in a 129-count indictment. The gangs are linked to nearly 20 shootings, including fatal incidents in Coney Island and Sheepshead Bay. The violence escalated after the 2021 murder of Bloodhound Brim member Davonte Lewis, intensifying a gang war. The gangs used music videos, jail calls, and social media to express their intent to kill rivals. Fourteen members, including teens, face charges such as murder. Authorities also seized illegal firearms linked to the gang members.
