MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Four men broke into multiple businesses beginning Friday morning, stealing over $11,000 worth of items at one store, police said.
The Memphis Police Department responded to the first burglary Dec. 1 around 4:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Prescott Road at the Prescott Express convenience store, where officers found the front door pried open.
Police said multiple suspects stole T-shirts and drove away in a black four-door BMW with tinted windows.
Almost 20 minutes later, officers responded to an alarm at 1617 Getwell Road at the Romantix adult entertainment store. Someone told them that the safe, a cash register, and $11,000 in merchandise were taken. Four suspects had escaped in a black four-door sedan, police said.
Another alarm call sent officers to 862 South Cooper Street at Soul Fish Cafe about an hour later. Police said four suspects drove into the lot in a black BMW then stole a safe from the restaurant before getting away.
The next day around 5 a.m., police said camera footage captured four suspects forcing their way inside Sugar Ghost Ice Cream and Bubble Tea at 2615 Broad Avenue, then escaping in a dark-colored four-door BMW and a midsize Infiniti SUV.
Investigators said they believe the four incidents are related. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

ARLETA, SAN FERNANDO VALLEY (KABC) -- Police are searching for several suspects who used a stolen vehicle to crash into a clothing store in Arleta before robbing the shop and taking off.
Officers responded to the strip mall on Woodman Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. They found a truck smashed into the front of the New Star clothing store, but the suspects had already fled the scene in another stolen vehicle.
Authorities say among the items stolen were custom jewelry and clothing. An estimated value for the stolen merchandise was not provided.
"It's just sad because it getting to be an every day thing for us," said Arleta Neighborhood Council Vice President Jaime Gallow, who blames cases like this on a lack of strict law enforcement that he says practically encourages people to commit crimes.
"We feel like criminals have more rights than we do," he said.
Investigators said they obtained surveillance video of the smash-and-grab and are reviewing it to search for more clues.
"Crime is on the rise. The same thing can happen to you as you're walking to your car. So we all could be victims," said Gallow. "We advise people to be careful and be aware of their surroundings."

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Thieves targeted a Wicker Park store early Saturday in at least the fifth crash-and-grab in Chicago in the last four days.
It happened at around 4:57 a.m. at the Urban Jungle in the 1300 blk. of N. Milwaukee.
According to police, a group of five suspects drove an SUV in to the store and took off with merchandise.
The suspects left the crashed SUV at the scene and took off in two waiting vehicles, police said.
On Friday, Chicago police issued a community alert warning businesses about these brazen crash-and-grab burglaries.
Burglars recently hit other clothing stores in the South Loop, River North, River East and East Village.
That's why on Friday, the owners of Urban Jungle said they requested the city place planters in front of their store.
"We were told we would have them by 2 p.m. but never got them," said John, one of the co-owners. "Other stores got them but we were left like sitting ducks."
John said he thinks this is the same crew hitting other stores like theirs but police have not yet linked this latest incident. Urban Jungle is a streetwear, sneakers and vintage store.
Urban Jungle opened in Oct. 2021. John said they were hit last month when burglars threw a rock through their window.
But he said this time was much worse. He said estimates they got away with about $100,000 in merchandise.

QUEENS, New York (WABC) -- Police are searching for a pair of FBI agent-posing thieves who made off with a fortune during a violent home invasion in Queens.
The attack happened on Sunday around 7:30 a.m. at a building near Main Street and Elder Avenue, not far from Kissena Park.
Police say the victims, a 25-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, were returning to their home, when they were approached by two men in a black Porsche Cayenne who identified themselves as FBI agents and displayed guns in their waistbands.
The two men then tased the victims and tied them up before making off with the victims' 2019 Mercedes-Benz GT50, about $20,000 in cash and another $20,000 in cryptocurrency.
The thieves also stole a Rolex watch, designer handbags and a cellphone.
The suspects then fled in both the Porsche and Mercedes-Benz in an unknown direction.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
Police have released surveillance video and photos of the men wanted in connection to the attack.

KINGWOOD, Texas -- A Kingwood, Texas couple was awakened early Friday morning by a naked man standing over their bed.
Home security video captured the man, who was wearing only shoes, a face mask, and a ball cap. He tried to break into other homes before making his way into Heather Dumais' residence.
"It's very unnerving to wake up and see anyone standing there, never mind in full nudity," Dumais told ABC13.
It happened at about 3:25 a.m. Dumais said she nudged her boyfriend, Jason Graham, awake. Graham then chased the man downstairs and outside into the woods.
"It's just incredible that someone is that bold to be able to come into the house. I really believe this is some type of sexual perpetrator," Graham said.
The couple believes the man stole Dumais' purse, a photo of her college-aged daughter, and her daughter's bra. He rummaged through drawers, they said. They are not sure how he got in or how long he had been in the house.
Neighbors on Timberlark Drive reviewed home security cameras and found a number of videos of the intruder in their Hunters Ridge neighborhood near Creekwood Middle School, starting at about 2:18 a.m., about an hour before the intrusion. The couple fears he was inside their house for about that long.
Video shows him checking the front doors of several homes. It appears when he could not get into the one house, he rubbed his genitals on the car in the driveway before moving on.
On Friday afternoon, friends distributed flyers alerting residents and asking for any additional video. Houston police are investigating. The couple wants everyone to beware.
"We need to get him off the streets. He needs help, and this is not normal," Graham said.
"We really just want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else," Dumais added.
The intruder, believed to be in his 20s, is described as tall with a thin build. He is white and pale with dark brown or black hair.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two more shoe stores in Chicago were targeted in smash and grab crimes Thursday morning.
One of the victims even hired an overnight security guard to try and prevent this from happening.
For three days, thieves have been on a spree, targeting shops that sell expensive gym shoes.
A shoe store in the South Loop and another in the East Village neighborhood were both hit Thursday morning.
Surveillance video captured the incident at the Boneyard Chicago at 1101 North Ashland Avenue.
After armed robbers threatened at gunpoint the security guard hired to watch the store overnight, the driver of a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee then jumped the curb and rammed the storefront three times with the SUV before gaining entry.
At least eight people in hoodies broke into the store and robbed it.
"Nobody ever gets caught," store owner Jacob said. "They're using a stolen car. It is what it is, you know, but we're trying to avoid it from happening entirely."
The Boneyard Chicago owner said after hearing about two other shoe stores that were targeted in the last two days, he hired a security guard to watch his store overnight. But that didn't deter the thieves.
"They pretty much surrounded him," Jacob said. "I want to say that's how it happened is that they surrounded him, pulled a gun on him. He pulled off and then that's when the Jeep came."
The owner of Boneyard Chicago said in the past he went as far as to install concrete barriers in front of his store, but the city removed them without notice.
"This would have never happened if the alderman did not come and take our barricades," Jacob said. "They wouldn't have been able to do this. They were blocking the store but now this is going to cost us."
Neither the 1st Ward alderman's office nor the Chicago Department of Transportation have officially commented yet on why the barriers were taken away.
This comes after two days of nearly identical crash and grabs.
At around 4:30 a.m., a group of thieves rammed a Jeep Cherokee into Unique Chicago on 18th and State streets in the South Loop, taking more high-end sneakers.
Wednesday, another shoe store was targeted in Little Italy, a Jeep Cherokee smashed into Flee Club. Surveillance video there showed the same type of burglary.
On Tuesday, a similar robbery occurred at a store in River North, where the thieves used two cars to smash into the store before fleeing in getaway vehicles.
No one has been injured in any of the robberies and no one is in custody.
QUEENS - Residents of Whitestone in Queens are on high alert after a series of burglaries in the neighborhood.
According to the NYPD, the suspects have struck at least 13 homes between June and August.
Home surveillance video given to FOX 5 NY shows the suspects getting into one resident's BMW and then attempting to break into her home.
Detectives say in some cases, the burglars ended up empty-handed because they were caught in the act after they were confronted by homeowners.
The suspects are wanted for stealing vehicles, including a Porsche, an Audi, and several BMWs and Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Residents told FOX 5 NY that they want a heavier police presence at night, because that's when the burglars are striking.
According to the NYPD, while most of the crimes happened in Whitestone, the group is wanted in connection to similar crimes in other areas, including some parts of Queens and Brooklyn.

THROGGS NECK, The Bronx (WABC) -- A violent robbery could have ended worse for two bodega workers, before the tables certainly turned.
At around 3:30 a.m. on September 5th, police say five men entered Green Apple Deli on East Tremont Avenue.
The dramatic footage from that night, exclusively obtained by Eyewitness News, shows the moment when one of the suspects snuck behind the counter and put the worker in a sleeper chokehold. That clerk, fearing for his life, tries to fight back while another suspect empties the register.
"The only thing on his mind was to protect - like how to get released from his hand from his neck and defend himself," said the worker to through a translator.
And defend himself he did. Wiggling free, he fights off his assailant.
At that point, the suspect then tries to run away with his accomplices, but they leave one person behind.
That person is then seen being taken down by the clerks, who pin him down until police arrive.
Speaking exclusively to Eyewitness News, the owner of the deli championed the efforts of the employees.
"Of course, we're going to defend ourselves especially if you go behind there," he said.
Police say the suspect who applied the chokehold has been arrested. Another suspect has since turned himself in.
